Linda Arsenio in a bikini for Aloo Chaat
US import Linda Arsenio, first seen as a journalist in John Abraham-starrer Kabul Express, went on to feature in Vikram Bhatt's Mumbai Salsa followed by a chocolate biscuit commercial with Hrithik Roshan. Linda resurfaces after a gap with Robby Grewal's Aloo Chaat.
She has also done some dare-bare scenes in a bikini that required her to go sunbathing on a Delhi rooftop! The film releases later this month.
Says Linda, "It's not that I disappeared from the scene. I have been travelling as well as shooting in the South."
She features in Hariharan's Malayalam film Pazhassi Raja that stars South sensation Mammooty. "It is a mega historical film and has a Hollywood feel to it.
The story is all about a King who belonged to the Kottayam royal family and revolted against the Britishers. They needed a foreigner and I play the role."
Mumbai is home
Adds Linda, "Now that several Indian stars want to make their mark in Hollywood especially after Slumdog Millionaire's sweep at the Oscars, why can't the reverse process also work? Actors from the West, too, want to
be part of Bollywood."
The model-actress has been in India for the last six years. "Though my family is in Dallas, now home for me is Mumbai. I am comfortable staying in Versova. I enjoy Indian food and the lifestyle. There are scores of people here who want to go to the US, but I want to stay in India."
She first arrived in Chennai to explore the country and then ended up doing dance numbers in Tamil films. "It was a stroke of luck that director Kabir Khan selected me for Kabul Express. The topping was that it was a Yash Raj project!"
Aloo Chaat, produced by Anuj Saxena along with Robby Grewal, is a comedy. "I have realised that I can do funny roles too!" says Linda."I was keen to act. After college, I attended a two-year actors' conservatory in Texas but I did not know then that it would lead me to India!"
