If you think Bollywood biggies Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan are bitter enemies, think again. The fact is, they are turning buddies of late, thanks to the face off between the producers-distributors and multiplexes owners.

Aamir and Shahrukh met recently to discuss about the ongoing problem between the film producers and multiplexes owners on revenue sharing. However, the massive publicity the media gave to their meeting took away the very essence of the discussion itself. To avoid this confusion, the Khans met again secretly without the knowledge of the media.

Well, the news is doing the rounds that Aamir and Shahrukh met a few days ago along with the film producers to know the latest status of the strike. It is said that the Khans looked very concerned this time around, as the multiplexes owners are adamant on their demand, in spite of the efforts from the big names in the film industry to resolve the issue. So, they deliberately kept the media at bay to make the meeting fruitful.

Aamir, Saif to play lunatics!

Mumbai: Barely a few hours before flying off to Cannes for the screening of his short film on global warming, director Pan Nalin revealed that he is on the verge of a casting coup. For the screen adaptation of legendary Pakistani playwright Saadat Hasan Manto's short story Toba Tek Singh, Pan will be casting Oscar winners Kate Winslet or Rachel Weisz as Dr Sophie, the female lead.

"Either Kate or Rachel will be doing my film. I will be meeting both of them after my Cannes trip to finalise the casting. Either of them will be able to do justice to this marvelous story," says Pan.

The hero of the film will be either Aamir Khan or Saif Ali Khan who will play the role of a lunatic in a mental asylum. "I haven't finished casting for the male lead, but Aamir and Saif fit the role best. I would reiterate that there's no question of a first or second choice between them. It depends on their availability when the film goes on the floors this August." Though Pan is not telling, sources say that Irrfan Khan might end up in the film too. According to sources close to Aamir, Pan has already narrated the script to him and Aamir has taken a keen interest. But he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet.
Talking about the script, Pan reveals, "I travelled to Pakistan to acquire the rights of the short story that describes a comic situation inside an Indian mental asylum in 1947 when India and Pakistan were being created. Dr Sophie comes to the mental asylum to decide how they will be dividing the lunatics lodged there betweenIndia and Pakistan. The comedy thereafter suddenly takes a tragic turn."

Aamir Khan asked for Mickey Mouse Autograph

Aamir Khan doesn't write regularly on his blog but once he does, he makes sure that his fans and readers have a new piece of him. And after a lull, he writes about an interesting incident he came across a few years ago. Believe it or not, the superstar begged for autograph not long ago.

Aamir recalls how he had once queued to get an autograph. “Speaking of humbling experiences I remember many years back I went to Disneyland with my kids when they were quite small. There roaming about in the theme parks were the characters of Mickey Mouse and Minny Mouse, with loads of children queuing up with their respective parents for an autograph and a photo with their favorite cartoon character,” he wrote on his blog aamirkhan.com.

“My kids went nuts and insisted on a photo and autograph with them. So here I was, big superstar, standing quietly in line waiting for Mickey Mouse to give me an autograph for my children. And as I was mouthing the lines that I hear everyday - “Hi, my kids are big fans, can we have a picture please?” – I was thinking to myself what fun if the person behind the Mickey Mouse costume is a desi!!!” Aamir Khan continued.

But this time around, he is spared from queuing up to get autograph. “Well, once again my kids and I were in Orlando visiting the various theme parks. This time thankfully my kids have grown older so I was spared the humbling experience. One per trip is enough.”

Kiddie times again for Aamir Khan

After “little boy bana big superstar’ Darsheel Safary, perfectionist Aamir Khan is set to make a star out of a little girl.

When Aamir Khan mentors anyone, the person concerned does well.

And the lucky little gal is a nine-year old girl is Parul who he has taken under his wing for a movie called ‘The Falling’.

The movie in itself will handle a serious topic of farmer suicides.

Now Aamir saw her fantastic performance playing the role of a farmer’s daughter at a stage play during his trip to Delhi.

And he’s giving the kid hailing from Muzzafarpur of Bihar a similar lengthy role in the film.

The kid has trained under renowned theatre stalwart Habib Tanwar and has traveled across the continents and won acclaims as a part of her Theatre’s play in Germany and European Countries.

This kid already has done well. So when she actually becomes a film star post the film, chances are her starry tantrums will be much much more

Anyway, the film is already on the floors of “The Falling’ and spread across the towns of Bihar.

Shahrukh stepping Into Aamir's Shoes

As fate has it, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan are in the news again. The superstars are not at each other especially after bonding big time over the Cinema multiplex-producers crisis but it seems Shahrukh has been tempted to step into Aamir's shoes.

The news is doing the rounds that Shahrukh is going to replace Aamir in a new film by Reema Kagtis. It is said that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had a fall-out with Aamir over terms of the film, as Aamir demanded a whopping fee and certain percentage of the profit. The fall-out happened on the sets of 3 Idiots where Ritesh had come to finalise the deal. He left the sets disappointed, as he couldn't buy the terms and conditions laid down by the actor.

It may be recalled that Farhan, Ritesh and Aamir were like family and their film Dil Chahta Hai was a huge hit. Now, it looks like their relationship will be affected by this turn out. Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed that they were supposed to work with Aamir but had fallen out over his unacceptable demands. However, he refused to confirm if Shahrukh is replacing Aamir. He said that they would announce very soon if Shahrukh is in the film.

On the other hand, sources close to Aamir claimed that the actor never works for money or friends. It added that he turned down the offer as he didn't like the script.

Well, nobody can hide the truth. Keep a watch on this space!

Art director, Nitin Desai is in a state of shock. A mail is being circulated with his name in which he questions Aamir Khan’s knowledge of the on-going distributors’ and exhibitors’ conflict. The mail is a link to the blog which, apparently, Nitin Desai has written criticising Aamir for his lack of knowledge and his mannerisms.

The content of the mail makes acerbic remarks at Aamir’s genius clearly indicating that contrary to perception, Aamir is not the intelligent actor that people make him out to be.

It also accuses Aamir of asking for larger share from the profits of Ghajini. It makes fun of Vashu Bhagnani, who was moved by Aamir’s “offer to clean toilets in single screens so that the release of his son Jackky’s debut movie is not impacted”.

A stunned Nitin Desai said, “I have absolutely no clue about what you are saying. Who is that Nitin Desai? I have worked with Aamir and have high regard for him. Who am I to point out Aamir’s mistakes? I am too small to take any panga with Aamir. There has to be some mistake or some mischief. I have got nothing to do with it and I have no clue about who is using my name to spread such things.”

Desai added, “I am too busy with my work, making my sets and creating new ideas for the same. I definitely have no clue whatsoever and have no time to write blogs and blame Aamir Khan for anything.”

Shahrukh and Aamir in Coke ad

Even though they are in regular war of words and have no plans of doing films together Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan could soon be seen together endorsing Coca Cola. Pepsi had recently dumped Shahrukh after a decade long association as it thought SRK being at the wrong side of 40 did not appeal to the youth. In its last 'Youngistan' campaign SRK was given a small role as compared to that of love birds Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Shahrukh however isn't the star to sit home and look for an endorsement deal. Pepsi's biggest rival Coca Cola saw this as a huge opportunity and pounced on King Khan. Shahrukh even roped in Kolkata Knight Riders's star Saurav Ganguly and his team to endorse Sprite which is a Coke product. Aamir on has been associated with Coke for quite some time. Now the Cola giant has plans to cast both Aamir and Shahrukh in the same commercial.

When Aamir-SRK came Together

Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan came together on the same platform to raise the issue of the tiff between the film producers and multiplexes over revenue sharing. And both advocated a partnership of equality.

"It should be a partnership of equality. Fifty percent sharing is fair. Distributors and exhibitors have to find a way to make it a viable business within their fifty percent. Within my fifty percent I have to make it profitable," said Aamir at a press conference here.

"This is one industry and we all can survive only when each sector will earn a healthy share. We are here to find a solution to this," added Aamir.

Apart from Aamir, industry veterans like Ronnie Screwvala, Mukesh Bhatt and Karan Johar were present, among others.

Shah Rukh Khan, however, stressed that the press meet should not be seen as a "power show".

"This is not a power show. We haven't gathered here to threaten multiplexes. It's a show of coming together," said Shah Rukh who also felt that there should be equal sharing of revenue.

"We are here for fair rights for Friday nights," he asserted.

The tiff between the producers and multiplexes started early February. And after several failed discussions, the producers decided to go on strike. From April 4 they have stopped giving release rights of new big-budget movies.

I've played all kinds of characters before, but never a Sardar. Although I played a Punjabi character in Rang De basanti but this is the first time as Sardar full on. When you have to get into many sets with Turban and beard. I hate this beard as it is much rubber on the very annoying. but you must do it when you need to do it.



First I was irritated because I have to put this body suit, etc. But when I put it on, and I look at me, I get excited. When I see myself looking like this other person, so I forget the discomfort. In addition to the irritation I am very particular about the wig is straight, and I look at me and I feel very happy, especially when the product comes out right.

Tata Sky is a brand I was very pleasant to associate with me because of the kind of standards it believes in.. When it comes to quality and service, and the brand Tata Sky stands for.

Aamir Khan shoots for his film, 3 Idiots at IIT Powai

Aamir Khan's next movie Three Idiots being directed by Raju Hirani has many firsts to its credit. It was the first film to be shot at a Bangalore B-school.

Now in another first, they shot at a Powai engineering campus in Mumbai last week.

Since the film based on the book 5 Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat, and has a backdrop of premier educational institutes, there's an attempt being made to be as authentic as possible.

Special permission to shoot on the premises have been requested.

The film was shot mostly in the mechanical labs of the institute and kids from the classes even said that the actor looked every bit like them.

A source reveals, "While in Bangalore, he interacted with the students there and joined them in various activities and sports, Aamir is keeping a low profile on the Powai campus since he doesn't want to disturb the study atmosphere there."

Aamir se Shahrukh tak

With Ghajini breaking many records, one would expect more from the actor Aamir Khan- director AR Murugadoss jodi. But that’s not what’s happening.

Murugadoss has moved on from one Khan superstar to the other. The Tamil-Telegu director is in talks with Shah Rukh Khan for his second Hindi film. Now, considering that there’s no love lost between Aamir and Shah Rukh, Murugadoss does appear to be going on the politically incorrect lane.

Murugadoss has been regularly meeting SRK since the last few months. It is reliably learnt that SRK has even agreed to do the Murugadoss film just before he left for the hospital for his shoulder surgery. Murugadoss admits that he was in Mumbai for negotiations with Shah Rukh. He says, “Things will materialise further only after Shah Rukh recovers from his surgery.”

Reveals our source, “It was cinematographer Ravi Chandran who suggested SRK’s name to Murugadoss. Ravi is currently shooting the SRK starrer My Name is Khan.”

An out-and-out romance, the film will be Shah Rukh’s home production. One of the industry’s top actresses, Priyanka Chopra or Kareena Kapoor will play the lead, reportedly. Unlike in the case of Ghajini, this film won’t be a remake.

Aamir Khan to make a film on farmers' plight

He is one actor-producer who never runs short of ideas, and now he is again planning a different film. Aamir Khan ’s next production is based on farmers’ plight in Bhopal.

In search of different and unique subject, Aamir has landed up a project on the crises faced by farmers, many of who even committed suicide. Anusha Rizvi, a former journalist who has the actual experience of covering such incidents, will reportedly direct this movie.

The talented Raghuvir Yadav will play the main protagonist. The story is about a journalist who fights for the right of the farmers – largely based on Anusha’s own experiences.

Aamir Khan’s production Delhi Belly is already on floors with Imran Khan in the lead. And his wife Kiran Rao ’s Dhobhi Ghat is also into production. Aamir, who was involved in Narmada Bachao Andolan and has been verbal about many social issues, is again set to make an eye-opener film with this subject.

The actor is already on cloud nine with his Ghajini emerging as a monster hit in its eighth week in running. His 3 Idiots is also set for Christmas release. And though he hasn’t yet signed another film after that, looks like he would be busy more as a producer than as an actor in the year ahead.

SRK wants to name his dog Aamir

Do you remember Aamir Khan creating a big stir a few months ago by writing on his blog that his dog named Shahrukh licks his feet? Aamir ended up apologising for the comment. Then, Shahrukh Khan said that he had taken it in the right spirit. But the truth is that King Khan wanted to hit back by calling his dog Aamir.

Shahrukh revealed that his wife Gauri got upset when he cracked jokes about naming his dog Aamir because she thought he should not bring himself down by doing such things. He added that he understands her intention but such silly things become necessary sometimes as people ask for it.

King Khan went on to say that he also wanted to name his pets after Aamir if it was just a joke for Aamir to call his dog after him. He however added that his pets refused to be named Aamir. Moreover, his wife requested him not to do so, as she thinks people don't understand his jokes. He said that he found the idea very funny but didn't made it public when the controversy broke out.

He did reveal that all is not well between him and Aamir. He said that there are things that he don't find funny. "I would like to ask Shahrukh, how it feels to be No.2," Aamir once said, and Shahrukh has not taken it lightly. He said that he would speak to him, as he didn't say he was number one in arrogance but with a sense of humour and humility.

Gandhi ji Inspires Aamir Khan

You can run but you can’t ignore the magic that runs in the air when Aamir Khan is around. His films 1947: Earth, Sarfarosh, Lagaan, Mangal Pandey-

The Rising, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa and Taare Zameen Par show his ability to experiment as an actor in a world full of ‘formulas.’ Considered one of India’s most ambitious actors, Aamir has always made an effort to raise the bar.

But according to him, his belief in doing things differently has come a long way, “I don’t do different things; I try to do it in a different manner. I think every person should follow his/her dream.” Talking about the success his so-called “different” movies have achieved, he says, “I think, the audiences have really changed as they want to see a variety of cinema. Today’s moviegoers are mature and practical. They don’t want the stereotype stuff to be played and that’s why films with unusual subjects are being appreciated and accepted.”

Interestingly, the end result doesn’t really matter much for him. He confirms, “For me, the process is more important, more joyful. I would like to have my entire concentration on the process right from the first step. But I would like to add, I am not a multi-tasker. I focus my efforts on one task at a time.”

Aamir is famous for his views on a number of subjects like the Narmada issue, the Olympic Torch relay and the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. “I am not a social activist. But, if there’s any issue that I feel strongly about, I can give a voice to it. Will I take up other issues in future? Yes, if and when I feel like.” Ask him what/who inspires him and he is quick to respond, “Gandhiji is one person who inspires me!”

Currently shooting in Bangalore for 3 Idiots, he says, “I am having a great time shooting at IIM Bangalore. Since I am also staying on the campus, I save on travel time and as a result I am finally getting time to sleep! Raju Hirani is an absolute delight to work with and so are the rest of the cast and crew.”

And he definitely enjoys being with management students. “In Ahmedabad, I was a teacher and I didn’t get much time to interact with the students. But in IIM, Bangalore, I play badminton and chess with them. It’s fun!”

His passion for cricket was well noticed when he was spotted with Sachin Tendulkar at the IPL matches last year, but not many would know about Aamir’s well-thumbed, eclectic collection of books ranging from PG Wodehouse, Gore Vidal, Mushirul Hasan’s volume on the Partition, Vijay Nambisan’s take on Bihar, Salman Rushdie’s The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Pico Iyer’s Falling Off The Map to a collection of the masterpieces of patriotic Urdu poetry that he safely stacks beneath his chessboard! What is he reading right now? “I’m reading a great book called India After Gandhi, by Ramchandra Guha. It is a book on Indian History post 1947. Must say, it’s very informative!”

Kareena and Aamir Relive their college days

Shooting for 3 Idiots is on in full swing at the IIM campus in Bangalore. The whole crew, except for Kareena Kapoor who left recently, is there and are staying on campus. Kareena however, packed in as much of the college atmosphere that she could before her schedule got over.

A source from the production house describes the scenes on the campus, when Kareena was present, saying, “She arrived in Bangalore in the first week of January. She was quite excited to go to the IIM campus and it was her decision to stay in the hostel along with all her co-actors.”

Bebo also made it a point to mix around with the students, giving them tips on fitness as well as how to deal with stress. The source adds, “She interacted with few students about their management studies and the pressure they go through during examination time. She also told them about her school days and her experiences at Howard University. Someone asked her about her diet and how she keeps fit. Bebo talked about her fitness routine and how she jogs every morning.”

While Kareena’s shoot got over by the end of January, co-star Aamir Khan is expected to leave for Mumbai next week. The actor is enjoying his stay at the campus. The source says, “Aamir goes to the gym every morning and then plays tennis with the students near the campus. Aamir has lost a lot of weight and is really looking the part of the college boy he is portraying in the film. It’s really amazing.”

With the Bangalore shoot nearing to an end, about 80% of the film’s shooting schedule will be completed. Shooting will then take place in Mumbai. 3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. Aamir Khan plays the role of Ryan, a painter and collegian. The film is set for a worldwide release on December 25.

Will SRK go One-up on Aamir with Billu Barber?

We don’t know what you think of Aamir’s Khan’s Ghajini, but we’re telling ya one thing ... we haven’t ever witnessed such brilliant marketing strategy for any Bollywood movie.

AK can take a bow for that. In fact recently, in a hold-no-bar interview, Aamir Khan confessed that he thought SRK was good at PR, but not so much at marketing. “Shah Rukh is excellent in PR. I am not sure about his marketing. You don’t have to be there for marketing your movie. Someone like Himesh Reshammiya...you see a cap and you think about him. That’s marketing. You go to a theatre and you see a Ghajini look. That’s marketing. I don’t have to be there. I think the thing in which Shah Rukh excels is PR. He has that quality and does that very well.”

We think that this time AK is genuinely paying SRK a compliment. Think so? However, SRK himself, who leaves no stone unturned in promoting his movies, is taking it a bit slowly on the eve of the release of Billu Barber. He’s avoiding crowded places, inspite of wanting to reach out to his fans, and that is simply because he can’t take any chances with his injured shoulder. But don’t ya worry, lovelies, he might not be right there with you, but trust him; the King Khan will be all over the place. And knowing the genius behind that calm façade, he’ll probably pull off a campaign that’ll be new and unique. Righto AK?

Aamir is fighting for the farmers!

Aamir Khan, the Perfectionist, is unpredictable. If we are to look back at his last few films, well, he switched from Lagaan to Dil Chahta Hai to Mangal Pandey: The Rising to Rang De Basanti to Fanaa to Taare Zameen Par and finally to Ghajini.

All these films belong to different genres. Now, the talks are doing the rounds that the actor is making a film based on the problems of the farmers.

It is said that Aamir is producing a film on the plight of the farmers in Bhopal. Anusha Rizvi is directing the film and Raghubir Yadav, who acted in Lagaan will play the lead role. It is also reported that the shooting of this film has already begun in Bhopal.

Let's hope Aamir brings about change to the lives of the farmer!

The man behind the success of Ash, Aamir, SRK

First it was Aamir Khan, then it was Shahrukh Khan and now it's Aishwarya Bachchan, who's bagged the Padma Shri award.

And while the three stars have all won their respective awards in different years, there's one common connection that the trio share. That all the three actors have won a Padma Shri soon after working with ace filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker.

Aamir won the award post-Lagaan, Shahrukh post - Swades, and Ash post – Jodhaa Akbar, all three films that were directed by Ashutosh. Call it the magic of teamwork or sheer coincidence, but Ashutosh sure seems to have a Midas touch when it comes to bagging awards.
