Ranbir to co-star with Madhuri!

The current buzz is that Madhuri Dixit will be seen opposite Ranbir Kapoor in director Prakash Jha's next untitled venture. Maduri has worked with Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor years ago in “Yaarana” and “Prem Granth”, so she must be comfortable with the Kapoor family.Bollywood's old trend has been pairing older men with younger girls. Be it Rishi Kapoor in “Deewana”, Big B in “Suryanvansh”, or even recently SRK in “Om Shanti Om” and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”.

However, the younger crop of actors has already reversed the trend.

So it’s no surprise that after Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan (“Kismat Konnection”) and Ranbir Kapoor and Bipasha Basu (“Bachna Aae Haseeno”) we will get to see Ranbir and Madhuri starring opposite each other.

History repeats itself for Madhuri

Age may be just a number, but Bollywood is cashing in on it big time! These days tinsel town is busy talking about the chemistry between younger heroes and older women. First, we heard of the sweet 'n' surprising Shahid Kapur -Vidya Balan pairing, then Bips created spark with a young Ranbir Kapoor & coupling it with younger Neil Nitin Mukesh .

Now we hear, the latest to rejoin the league is the former Bollywood queen Madhuri Dixit If the current reports are to go by then in her latest venture, Mads is being paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor in director Prakash Jha's next. If this happens history will repeat itself. Madhuri on her part is bound to experience bouts of nostalgia when working with young heartthrob, reminiscing the days when she romanced his papa Rishi Kapoor onscreen while working on films like YAARANA, PREM GRANTH.

And this is not the first time; Madhuri has already shared great onscreen chemistry with both father and son in lead roles & charmed both. Years back she had worked with papa Vinod Khanna in DAYAVAAN and son Akshaye in MOHABBAT (and recently in AAJA NACHLE).

No wonder she is aptly called the eternal 'Dhak Dhak' girl of Bollywood!

Ram gives me surprise Gifts: Madhuri Dixit

Change is the only constant in life, but not many take to change easily. Madhuri Dixit is an exception. Not many years ago, when she was the reigning queen of Bollywood, Madhuri's birthday was celebrated with much pomp and splendour. In stark contrast, on her birthday today, her itinerary only has a visit to the museum nearby with her elder son Arin and his class mates. "A few parents volunteered to go along with the children, and I volunteered too," she says with her famous laugh, talking to After Hrs from the US.

The Slumdog effect..."All the mothers at school started suddenly coming to me asking me if people in India are really like the ones shown in the movie. They think all Indians are living in such sad conditions, but are happy because of our fighting spirit," laughs Madhuri.

Perhaps no one else has settled into anonymous domesticity better than Madhuri. "I am happy," she says, adding, "I hope to come to Mumbai in the first week of June when the kids get holidays, but I'm not sure yet." A true Taurean, Madhuri says "We Taureans are supposed to be this Rock of Gibraltar and I think that fits me perfectly. I don't let anything affect me too much." So, obviously the absence of mad attention was like raindrops which quickly fell off this 'rock'? "Once we Taureans take a decision, we stick by it, no matter what," she emphasises.

Apart from the visit to the museum, she hopes husband Ram Nene is free to go out this weekend. "He gives me surprise gifts generally, but this time I would be surprised if he manages to give me a gift as he is out of town," she says. "But we will probably go out somewhere during the weekend."

Madhuri, Preity and Sushmita gunning for Size zero?

It's great to see these glam-sham maam's on the big screen. And it was even more pleasurable to bump into them at this filmi do.

Anyway, the three women - Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen - were looking as gorgeous as ever. And yes, they all seem to have lost tons of weight, so much so that we think Mads, Zints, and Sush are soon going to be size zero!

From hero-giri, it's the fad of zero-giri that seems to be taking over our filmi duniya. Hai Ram!

Madhuri Dixit back in town for Sankranti

Makar Sankranti, for Maharashtrians, is spent at home.And that is what Madhuri Dixit did yesterday in Mumbai. Bollywood’s original Dhak-Dhak girl is in the city with sons Arian and Ryan.
She’s here to shoot a commercial; Makar Sankranti was part of the fringe benefits of this trip. At her Juhu home, Madhuri discovered that her boys were no longer camera-shy. Happily, they posed for pictures. “They were shy earlier because they were too young to understand anything,” she said.

The religious customs over, Mads and kids stuffed themselves with Maharashtrian delicacies prepared for the festival by her mother and mother-in-law (who accompanied them down from the US). Husband Dr Sriram Nene too had come, but yesterday he was back in the US, where it is winter at their home in Denver. “The kids love to play in the snow,” said Madhuri. “It’s lovely there but I think they need to learn about Indian culture and traditions as well. They must know where I come from, they ought to meet the families back here, study Marathi and Hindi, the minds are receptive at this stage — whatever they grasp will be with them for life.”

She talked about the Golden Globes and A R Rahman’s success at the awards. Madhuri had worked with the music composer in Pukar. Of Slumdog Millionaire, the actress said, “It’s a moment of pride for all of us. It’s certainly a big thing, because it’s opening a lot more doors for our films there.” Bollywood, Madhuri added, had stopped taking baby steps, it is right there in the west now — making news.

“Curiosity about India and Bollywood is big time there. People I meet, even my husband’s friends, are curious about our cinema and our culture. It’s beautiful to see this evolution.” What was also thrilling for Madhuri was that there’s a new form of dance called Bollywood dance in the West. “And this is not just among the Indian population,” she exclaimed. Meanwhile, the failure of her comeback film Aaje Nacchle last year has not discouraged the actress from dreaming of a return to Bollywood. “Offers pour in every day, but the one that will sweep me off my feet is yet to come.Till then I am happy looking after my kids and my home. It’s a different high,” she said.
