Akshay, John to do pole dance

Bollywood two heartthrobs, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar are coming to make the girls fall weak at their knees as both are going to perform pole dance in David Dhawan’s son Rohit’s directional debut to be produced by Akshay Kumar’s Hariom Productions. The dance number will be a treat as both are expert dancers and can pull any form of dance with ease.

A source said, "Earlier, Akshay was supposed to be part of Rohit's film, Come On Pappu. However, the film did not work out. Meanwhile, there were talks of a romantic comedy, which Akshay had offered to star in as well as produce.

Rohit's untitled film is about Akshay and John, who lose their jobs because of the recession. As they are unable to find a decent job, they become pole dancers at the same strip club where they try to outdo each other. John and Akshay will undergo training for pole dancing in LA before the shoot begins. The film will be shot in some of the most exotic locales."

Akshay and John make a wonderful pair and they last starred in Priyadarshan’s ‘Garam Masala’ in 2005.

Akshay Kumar arrested in obscenity case

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar was arrested and later released on bail for allegedly indulging in obscene behaviour during a fashion show in Mumbai during the Lakme Fashion Week held in March.

"Akshay, who arrived in Mumbai from abroad, surrendered before the police today. He was accompanied by his lawyer," a senior police officer said.

"He was then arrested under section 294 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged obscene behaviour," the officer added.Akshay's wife Twinkle was also arrested under the same charges last month and immediately released on bail.Akshay Kumar, his wife Twinkle and the organiser were booked after an "unbuttoning" act during the Lakme India Fashion week.

Twinkle had unbuttoned Akshay's jeans in public when he asked her to do so while he was on the ramp.A Mumbai-based social worker had lodged a police complaint against Akshay, Twinkle and the organisers for his alleged obscene behaviour in public.

Bebo walking the red carpet with Stallone, Akshay

Sajid Nadiadwala is taking his new big-budget film Kambakkht Ishq to Cannes. And he isn't going alone. The film's luscious lead will accompany him. Akshay Kumar who's currently shooting in Singapore and Kareena Kapoor who's in New York will be at Cannes to walk the red carpet.

And giving them company would be Sylvester Stallone who plays a key role in the film. Stallone has been making discreet inquiries about the release of the film. When informed of producer Sajid Nadiadwala's plans at Cannes, Stallone apparently readily agreed. He's extremely fond of both Akshay and Kareena.

"Is he?" chuckles Akshay from Singapore. "That's flattering. When in my early years I was working in Bangkok, I had three posters in my room, that of Sridevi, Bruce Lee and Sylvester Stallone."

Adds Kareena, "It would be lovely to walk the red carpet with Sylvester Stallone. How many of our actors would get that privilege?"

The details of the historic waltz at Cannes have almost being worked out. Says Sajid cautiously. "We're working on it. It will be in place soon."

Akshay-Katrina can't stop their Reel Romance

The non actress that she was, it wasn’t easy for Katrina Kaif to survive in B-Town despite the help from her man Salman Khan until a certain Mr. Akshay Kumar happened to her.He too was looking for a perfect screen partner after his wifey Twinkle Khanna banned him from working with Priyanka Chopra[^] following too much talk of their link ups. And Katrina knew nothing about acting other than sitting and looking pretty and running around trees.

They share many hits like Namastey London[^] , Welcome and Singh Is King together. Both wanted to experiment and started doing films with other actors but things didn’t turn out to be as rosy as they thought they would be.

By the way, Akshay loves to do the same thing over and over again and put in a mishmash of comedy, action, romance etc in all his movies. And Katrina doesn't have the prowess to do anything new either. So Chandni Chowk To China[^] fell flat on its face and the chemistry with Deepika didn’t work at all. Katrina’s movie with beau Salman Khan - Yuvvraaj did badly too.

So looks like now the twosome have realized their real worth now. When director Priyandarshan was making a choice of heroine for his next venture, De Dhana Dhan opposite Akshay, Katrina's name came up. Akshay quickly recommended Katrina’s name as he again wanted to repeat the on-screen chemistry. Priyan was happy too and they are currently shooting in Singapore.

Akki and Katrina's Royal Experience

Ratan Jain and his unit have taken over an entire seven-star hotel at Singapore.Sources from Singapore say that the unit of De Dana Dan - comprising a cast of 24 lead actors - including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Suniel Shetty, Chunky Panday, Archana Puran Singh, Paresh Rawal, Sameera Reddy and many more Priyadarshan faithfuls; are all staying in the same hotel. “For a month this unit has booked the entire hotel, almost making it impossible for outsiders to stay here,” says a local. So the hotel is virtually like an island unto itself with the highest level of security.

What’s more Akshay and Katrina who are there for a shorter duration than the rest of the cast and crew are occupying the most expensive suites in the hotel. “These suites are fit for royalty,” adds the source. Well, recession or not, at least actors in Bollywood are still living it up!

Akshay Kumar Performs Stunt without cables

Akshay Kumar loves performing stunt sequences. From leaping off buildings to hanging out from choppers, he has done it all. And now, for Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkht Ishq, he performed yet another high voltage action sequence.

The action scene is his introductory scene in the film. He plays a stuntman in the film and is performing a stunt for actor Brandon Routh (Superman Returns). Akki jumped from a 5-storied building without any wires or cables. He landed on corrugated boxes, which are universally used for stunt sequences.

More realistic, please

Director Sabbir Khan reveals that the high-end action scene was coordinated by action director Spiros Razzatos, "The scene has Akshay smashing through a window of glass and falling through the fifth floor. He's the body double for Brandon. We rehearsed the scene with cables and wires but when it came for the final take, Akshay decided at the last minute, that he wanted to do the scene without them. He felt that way, it would look more realistic."

Sabbir says that the shot was intricate and had to be completed quickly. "Akshay rehearsed a few times, then went up and did in one take. He had to do it in one take as we have Brandon immediately standing at the same place in the same frame. I was very apprehensive there were no cables to help Akshay if things went wrong. I was very stressed. Of course, it's compulsory to have a doctor, first aid and a huge medical set-up on the sets... I guess Akshay wanted to prove that he's the original action star and he did that on that day. He's fearless!"

Says Akshay, "A man that hosts a show called Fear Factor isn't exactly allowed to be scared. I jump... I tumble, I fall and Idare to do the impossible. Am I scared? YES! But I live to feel fear. I've faced death too much in my life to be worried about anything or anyone anymore; that's why I enjoy life so much. I fight fear, I don't live with it."

Akki gets knocked down

Hurts elbow and back while working out but returns to work nevertheless Akshay Kumar hurt himself badly on Wednesday morning while working out at his personal gym at his bungalow in Karjat.

This is the same bungalow in Karjat that filmmaker Vipul Shah has constructed for Akshay and his family, while he shoots for Vipul's next, titled Action Replay with Aishwarya Rai.

Work comes first

Says a unit member from the sets, "Akshay has been shooting for a week now. He was at his bungalow in Karjat when the accident happened.

Akshay was doing pull-ups on the bar when the rod broke. He injured his hand and hurt his back.

When Vipul heard about it, he rushed to the house and panicked.

He was shocked at the bleeding and insisted on cancelling the shoot but Akshay told him to finish the day's shoot."

The source adds that Akshay came back to Mumbai in the evening and was back in Karjat on Thursday to resume shooting. "He was treated right there and then in Mumbai. Now he's able to move around as he resumed shooting from yesterday."

Vipul Shah confirms Akshay's accident and says, "While working out, one of the rods broke and Akshay had a bad fall. His elbow got cut badly and was bleeding profusely so I wanted to pack up immediately but Akshay wanted to carry on and he did. He didn't take any medicines during the shoot."

Apparently Akshay has been having severe back pain for the last week or so. Vipul says, "Yes Akshay was having trouble with his back and that's why I was worried as he fell on his back. Akshay did get hurt on his back and was in lots of pain but he still continued to shoot and completed the scenes for the day."

Akshay's next release is Nagesh Kukunoor's thriller 8 X 10 Tasveer which releases on April 3.

Accident-prone Akshay

In 2008 Akshay Kumar's thirst for thrill injured him while he was shooting under 75ft deep water for Blue, his upcoming action-adventure movie with Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta in the Bahamas. The shot required Akshay to be underwater surrounded by 35 sharks.

Though Akshay is a certified deep-sea diver the stunt went wrong when Akshay hit his head against the shipwreck and started bleeding. The main concerns were the sharks, since they get attracted to the smell of blood. Even then, Akshay had tried to brush it off as a minor mishap.

In 2007, Akshay banged his head against a wooden cabinet during the shooting of Bhagam Bhaag in Filmistan Studios in Mumbai. His makeup artist, Narendra Dada, a certified Ayurvedic doctor had treated him with ointments and other herbal medicines.

In 2006, Akki burnt his right footwhile doing a stunt for a Thums Up commercial in Cape Town, South Africa. The accident occurred when Akshay was riding a bike and had to leap with the bike over a pit of fire. The heat from the exhaust pipe burnt Akshay's skin and he was rushed to a local hospital.

Randhir Kapoor to play scientist in Akshay-Aishwarya film

Randhir Kapoor who directed his lone film Henna 18 years ago and last appeared on screen six years ago as Preity Zinta's father in Honey Irani's Armaan is all set to make a comeback as an actor in a role that's been specially written for him by Vipul Shah in his new film Action Replay which goes on floors in March.

Says Vipul, "I'm a fan of Randhir and Rishi Kapoor. It was a dream come true when I got a chance to work with Chintuji in Namastey London.

Look at how many wonderful roles and films he signed after that. Now I'm hoping that after Instant Replay, Randhirji too will be doing more films."

Vipul has cast Karisma and Kareena's semi-retired dad as a scientist in his time-travel tale.

Says the director, "But Randhirji doesn't play a mad scientist with his hair flying rebelliously and all kinds of fumes and fires escaping from the lab. He plays a calm scientist lost in his own world."

Boman Irani had played a mad scientist in Love Story 2050, which was also a time travel tale!

SRK and Akki are arch Rivals

Apparently Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan shared some serious cold vibes at Preity Zinta’s birthday bash.

The undercurrent of rivalry between the two stars was apparent when Shah Rukh arrived at the party. According to our source, Akshay wanted to leave before Shah Rukh could arrive. “The minute Shah Rukh stepped in, Akshay chose to leave. The few minutes that the two were together, they avoided each other. They greeted one another very reluctantly but after that no words were exchanged between the two. Since there were only a few guests present at the party at the time, the awkwardness was very obvious.”

We messaged both Shah Rukh and Akshay asking them if they had consciously avoided each other at the party, but the two did not revert.

Akshay is not Superman

You would have thought with the appalling reviews and public criticism his 2009 non-starter Chandni Chowk To China (CC2C) received in India, Akshay Kumar would have retreated to a corner to sulk and lick his wounds .

Far from it! Bollywood’s action hero who laughs, cries, sings, dances and kickboxes in the film that producer Warner Bros’ American audiences and the Hollywood press (also, Indian kids) actually enjoyed, is standing on his feet having taken the punches squarely on the chin... BT put him on the mat and got him to deliver straight replies to some more punches...

With this flop, it’s being said your golden spell is over...
But my so-called flop has generated Rs 45 crore in the first weekend... it’s the fourth highest, three-day box office collection in the history of Bollywood. Besides, I never said this was the greatest film ever made. I told everyone, ‘It’s a senseless film, leave your brains at home.’ I accept it for what it is, I love it for what it is, and I will stand by it and say that’s the film we wanted to make and we made. I pray you like it, and I’m sorry if you don’t. But I didn’t break my back doing it to have my own fraternity later stab me from behind...

But you’re hugely successful, you had the opportunity to choose ... did you make the right choice?
I accept failure, no problem; failing isn’t the scary part, reading newpapers is what brings me out in a cold sweat! Mistakes I can live with, but regret is one thing I can do without. I did my best, I’m not Superman, if I never fall how will I pick myself up to climb again!

You gave away your Best Actor award in the Popular category to Aamir Khan. People claim that magnanimity was not the reason behind your grand gesture...
Of course they will, you only hear crap about me around release time; they did it to me before Singh Is Kinng and are doing it again now. I gave my award to Aamir because I felt he deserved it. Just because he doesn’t turn up for awards doesn’t mean I can pretend it doesn’t belong to him. I was honoured to be given the award and, to be honest, it took a lot for me to give it away. Aamir knows why I did what I did, he understands me, why can’t people? Everybody’s not corrupt.

CC2C Bombs: Akshay dumps Deepika

Just about a week back there were talks of Akshay Kumar signing multiple projects with Deepika Padukone. All that seems to be out of question now as Akshay had decided to dump Deepika after the debacle of Chandni Chowk To China. Akshay has in fact roped in Deepika's arch rival Sonam Kapoor for his next movie Come On Pappu.

Come On Pappu will be the directorial debut for David Dhawan's son Rohit Dhawan. Sources close to the director say that the female lead's role was open and had Chandni Chowk To China done well Deepika would have surely bagged the role. But since the pairing didn't click Akshay didn't want to do another movie with Deepika instead chose her biggest rival Sonam Kapoor.

Deepika and Sonam have had mutual dislike for each other since the time their debut movies Om Shanti Om and Saawariya clashed at the Box Office. Ranbir Kapoor had dated Sonam after his first breakup with Deepika. Later the Kapoor scion went back into the arms of the OSO actress. Loosing the role to Sonam will hurt Deepika more than loosing a role in the movie.

Whom is Akshay Kumar Scared of?

Akshay is enjoying his success in Bollywood yet he is aware that he has competition. And it’s not the well established Khans that are giving him a run he believes...

In fact it’s the ‘new age’ heroes, and the young kids on the block that are making Akki work harder than ever before.

“You can see there is a lot of competition around for me nowadays,” he admits, “I love working with younger heroes but am also scared of them. They are all so fit. If I have to work with them then I have to match up to them. And that means I ought to be fit and fine, for there’s no time to sit and rest.”

Looks like the guy’s all charged up, eh? It’s not long before he’ll be co-starring with son Aarav. Is that the plan, AK?

Kat grooves for the King Akki!

Looks like the King of Bollywood can’t do without his Queen.

We are talking about Akshay Kumar and his lucky mascot Katrina Kaif. After giving a string of hits, the jodi will be seen together once again. Katrina has agreed to shoot for a special number for the Akshay-starrer Blue .

The song will be shot on a whopping Rs 6 crore budget and in Mumbai soon. According to a unit member, “Katrina has agreed to do the song only for Akshay’s sake. She genuinely did not have the dates to accommodate another film. But Akshay considers Katrina to be lucky and the two get along very well. So, the actress agreed.”

We hear Katrina has been rehearsing for the song and will have to do double shifts to complete it. But she doesn’t mind it. And, looks like Akshay could do with a little luck after his dismal opening with CCTC last week.

Now here's the best part – the interest earned on this investment is totally tax-free," says the source.

Clearly our market savvy stars would be fools to let go of such a wonderful scheme to multiply their money. So when their financial advisors came to them with the idea, Shah Rukh, Saif and Akshay promptly jumped at it.

So just how much have these men invested?

If rumours floating in the market are to be believed, Shah Rukh Khan has invested Rs 8 crore. Not to be left behind, Akshay Kumar too invested the same amount as the Khan and Saif Ali Khan is said to have invested Rs 7 crore.

The policy of the stars will mature in 10 years.
