Abhay Deol Kisses Mystery girl in New York

Abhay Deol, who is currently in New York, was spotted playing tonsil hockey with a young Indian girl at JFK airport last week.An eye-witness present at the airport reveals that Abhay was at the airport to see off the girl who was on her way back to Mumbai.

Abhay and his mystery gal entered the airport together holding hands. The actor was wearing a hat, his trademark Dev D glares, a casual shirt with blue jeans and high boot. The source describes that the two exchanged "a lover's kiss that says I will miss you, come back soon" Deol looked reluctant to let her go.

Since it was New York, both Abhay and the girl were carefree and didn't attempt to refrain from PDA. But when a few Indian fans approached him for autographs, he distanced himself from the girl. And when he posed for some photographs with them, he made sure his girl was nowhere in the frame.

The source adds, "Abhay carried her hand bag while she checked in. He lifted her up in his arms before she left and kissed her on the lips before she went for her security check, and then he watched her till he lost sight of her."

Our source who was on the same flight informs that at Mumbai airport, she was greeted by her mom and her sister at the airport and were later seen driving off in a red car.

Abhay Deol’s Booked

Now before your imagination takes off trying to figure out the hottie in Abhay Deol’s life, clip it’s wings.

We are talking about Abhay’s love for books. So much so, that the actor is often seen reading one even between shots. And this bookworm has no qualms in admitting his love for reading.

“I read whenever I get time from my busy schedule and sometimes even try and squeeze in some time for it,” says the actor. As for the kinds of books he enjoys reading, Abhay reveals that it’s an eclectic mix. “I like reading different genres of book, but dark humour attracts my attention. I find books with morbid and dark humour very eccentric. I also read Osho’s works,” added Abhay. Desi Sonam girl, English twirl

Adaptations seem to be the flavour of the season. Anil Kapoor is now adapting Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma, for his next production.

And who better to play the spirited and busybody matchmaking heroine than his daughter Sonam Kapoor? In earlier versions of the novel, celebrated actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Beckinsale and Alicia Silverstone have played Emma, whom Austen describes as “a heroine whom no one but myself will much like.”

Emma is one of Sonam’s favorite novels and it is on her urging that papa Anil decided to finally produce a film for his daughter. Says a source, “Sonam can be the perfect Emma. The film will beautifully capture the sensuous and obstinate side to Sonam’s personality."

Revealing more details of Emma, the source adds, “While one of the two heroines is the master of unconventional cinema Abhay Deol, currently being feted for his terrific performance in Dev.D, Sonam’s second hero is newcomer Arunoday Singh. Rajshri Ojha will direct the film.”

Whether Anil’s interpretation of Emma manages to match up to Jane Austen’s novel, and its several celebrated screen adaptations, remains to be seen.

Abhay Deol reveals the Violent side of Dev D

Anurag Kashyap's much hyped Dev D releases this weekend. While there is good enough curiosity and buzz surrounding the film, one does notice the presence of 'drugs' and 'sex' - a potent mix that gives the film a violent feel.

Abhay doesn't deny that there is an intrinsic emotional violence in the film. ''We are not being visibly explicit in depicting violence and abuse. But yes Devdas is about violence. The story does have elements of abuse.''

He comments though that the book by itself carries strong and violent content and they are not doing anything spectacularly different from what the book says. ''The book by itself is like that. Violence and sex is inherent to 'Devdas'. Author Saratchandra himself felt that his writing was harsh in the book.''

The film seems to be a lot more violent than one would have imagined Devdas to be? ''If you read it, you will find that sexual tension is quite implicit there as well. It is very much in the background and we haven't added something on our own'', he defends.

He is surprised though that people feel Dev D brings with it a good dose of sexual element. ''I guess we see a lot more of it in the item numbers of Bollywood'', he laughs, ''This is why I have always maintained that there are regular Bollywood movies and then there is a film like ours. You will see what I mean once you will see Dev D.''

Abhay Deol hates Promotion

This modern-day Devdas believes in his own unique things be it his films or his thoughts. He just loves to be different.

Now when all the big stars including Aamir, SRK and Akshay believe in strong promotion for their films Abhay dares to say that he doesn't like to promote films.

Now this lazy actor has got an easy way out to deal with this problem. Abhay has started blogging and through that he is promoting Dev D. "It's not about the ego, it's not about projecting an image, it's not about being lazy or anything else you might think. The truth is, I love making movies but I just don't have it in me to sell them. I am an actor not a salesman, but most people seem to think that the two are one and the same."

He continues "But I am not a salesman but an actor and the two are not one and the same, but I hope I did a good job of selling the film to you through this article more than any representative from any studio could have."
