Imran Khan continues his fight!

The passing of the State Government of India’s new law to increase the age limit for alcohol consumption to 25 stirred up a whirlwind of opposition from the youth. And one in particular was the industry’s very own Imran Khan, who had announced that he would file a PIL against the new law.

Incidentally, the law was passed a little before the release of Delhi Belly. However, Imran, who is busy with the promotions of his next film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has yet to act on his words.

It has been more than a month and a half and a honeymoon later, but the actor asserts that he has not forgotten to attend to the issue.

When contacted, Imran told, “There has been a lot of progress on that. I have been doing extensive research on the law. In fact, there are certain things I want to bring to notice. I would advice people to file an RTI about the law to find out some facts. I had filed an RTI and that is when I came across these facts.”

Ranbir and Imran to be seen to Together!

It is learnt from reliable sources that Shimit Amin's next will bring together the younger generation's latest heart throbs Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan. The film will be Shimit's next with Yash Raj Films after his immensely successful and acclaimed Chak De India.

For quiet a long time both Imran and Ranbir wanted to be cast together and had been dropping such hints in their various interviews to the media. They also get along well with each other and had been searching for scripts and directors who would take both of them.

It is learnt that since the past few months, the duo had been meeting up big Bollywood filmmakers such as Subhash Ghai, Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, Vipul Shah as well as their own respective directors that they have worked with for doing a film together but they were successful, perhaps because of the on-going recession. But finally Yash Raj has managed to get them together.

CNN-IBN: You can truly be called destiny's child, so Freida would you say everything worked out just right for you?

Freida Pinto: Yes I guess it did. I believe it was the right amount of hard work and some amount of luck as well.

CNN-IBN: What kind of films do you like and who are your favourite actors?

Freida Pinto: Among the newer lot, I like Imran Khan a lot and I liked Vishal Bharadwaj's Omkara as well and Aamir Khan he is top notch.

CNN-IBN: So is it now time for you to say goodbye to Hollywood and say hello to Bollywood?

Freida Pinto: Now that is a difficult question. No it wouldn't be right to do that, all I want to say is that I'm right here and I am open to receiving all kinds of scripts. Even in Bollywood, there are some very interesting films being made these days, so I'm open to both.

CNN-IBN: With so much media attention there's bound to be some prying into your private life. Are you prepared?

Freida Pinto: Well it has already started, my sister called me up to tell me that on Wikipedia I was dating some guy in UK. So I guess it's the price you have to pay and I'm coping with it.

Imran Khan Shares Maamu's Genes

Nephew Imraan is just like his mamu Aamir Khan when it comes to promoting his films. And trust us to bump into him and girlfriend Avantika at a restaurant.

Well, the guy was sporting a ‘Delhi Belly’ T-shirt, and we at once shook our head... He simply smiled and said, "Watch the film!" Delhi Belly is Imran’s next film backed by Maamu jaan Aamir Khan.

Well, conversation didn't end there. We were told that the entire production unit has ‘Delhi Belly’ tees, which they wear whenever they go out! These Khans really now how to make earth and sky one... Taare zameen par, eh?... when it comes to the promotions of their films.

Rushdie wants Imran Khan as his Hero

Now here's something interesting. If reports are to be believed, Imran Khan is all set to play the role of Saleem Sinai in the adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children.

Deepa Mehta is to direct the movie.

"My friend Rushdie will take an active part in casting for the film. He will also look into who plays Saleem, and quite approves of Imran. He is yet to meet Imran though, to take a final call," Deepa was quoted by Mumbai Mirror as having said.

Saleem Sinai, arguably one of Rushdie's most memorable characters, is snot-nosed and the choice of the chocolate boy Imran is bound to ruffle many feathers.

But Rushdie, known to be one to stir the hornet's nest, seems taken in by Imran's glam quotient.

"… if an actor is good and suited to the role he plays, then his popularity will only add to the film's equity," Deepa told the paper.

Interestingly, this is not Rushdie's first attempt at adapting the book. Decades ago he was hoping to produce a series but could not shoot in India. A very young Rahul Bose and Ayesha Dharker were supposed to play the lead roles.
